ABOUT US
Alter Ego was established by Joseph Cinque in the Fall of 1986. Initially located in Union City, NJ, the guard took residence in neighboring West New York in the fall of 1987. Mary Ann Cinque joined as Co-Director the same year, and together the Cinques lead Alter Ego through over 30 years of pageantry competition. First and foremost, the guard served as haven for its urban members, fostering a family environment and learning the meaning of good old fashioned work ethics for its members. The guard initially competed in the Independent A Class, moving into the Independent Open, and now competes in the highest, most proficient class as recognized by Winter Guard International, the World Class.

Alter Ego remained more local in its initial years and in 1996, chose to burst into the national scene. The guard quickly became popular across the nation, gaining national recognition with the teams very first WGI Bronze medal in 1998 with their show entitled "Lex". In 2008, Alter Ego was awarded the prestigious honor of winning the Gold Medal in the Independent Open class with their show "Footprints of Angels", dedicating the show to the tragedy which occurred in our nation on 9/11. Following this win, Alter Ego was promoted to the world class where they have successfully become a 9 time WGI World Class Finalist.
